Abstract

519,218. Concrete slabs. AIREY, Sir E. Oct. 1, 1938, No. 28576. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group X] A method of constructing slabs and the like consists in casting the concrete over and around hollow reticulated bodies, which are provided inside with removable forms having flexible or depressible surfaces, so that the concrete may pass through the bodies and completely cover them. In one construction the removable form 2 comprises transverse members 4 and spaced longitudinal members 3, supporting a flexible envelope 5 of paper, hessian, etc. and disposed within the reticulated body 1, the removable form being supported by side battens 6. The envelope may be left adhering to the concrete when the form is removed or may be removed with it. The removable form may comprise a reticulated body supporting either straight longitudinal or arched transverse bars, the lower edges of the forms being spaced by struts. In a further modified construction, Fig. 4, a meshwork 17 is shaped to the reticulated body, but separated therefrom, and supported by transverse members 19 on battens 6 and 18 ; this removable form may be used either with or without an envelope.
