[Class 70] Neoprene is rendered fire-resistant by plasticizing it with 5 to 20 per cent. of a gasolinesoluble highly chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbon, solid or viscous at ordinary temperature and non-volatile below 120‹C. such as chlorinated paraffin wax or chlorinated pitch containing not less than 40 per cent. of chlorine. The mix may be vulcanized.
