517,745. Conveyers; confining dust on discharge; cleaning belts. MAVOR & COULSON, Ltd., and McCULLOCK, T. Aug. 11, 1938, No. 23682. [Class 78 (i)] A belt conveyer is fitted, at the discharge position with (1) means for confining and preventing the dissemination of dust rising from the delivered material, (2) means for removing adherent dust from the surface of the belt, and (3) means for withdrawing all the dust-laden air so confined to dust-separating plant: A pair of spaced belt-scrapers 4 are suspended by links 8 from a counterweighted lever 5 pivoted at 6 and by links 11 from a fixed point. A dustextractor of the kind described in Specification 479,857, [Group XII], is mounted to communicate with the interior of the hood or cover C. A row of air jets 12 remove dust loosened by the scrapers 4 and free it for delivery to the separating-apparatus along with the main body of dust which rises from the material as it is delivered over the end drum 1.
