Abstract

516,002. Flexible mountings. SILENTBLOC, Ltd., and JELLEY, S. W. June 14, 1938, No. 17619. [Class 108 (iii)] In a flexible mounting for instruments &c. comprising an annulus A of rubber &c. a fixed outer member B constituting a housing for the outer circumferential part of the annulus and having parts B<1> which bear against opposite faces of the outer circumferential part and an inner member C to which the instrument &c. is secured and which passes through and is gripped by the bore in the annulus, the annulus in its unflexed state is arranged to be displaced upwardly relatively to the central horizontal plane of the mounting as shown and to be returned into or slightly beyond the central plane when loaded by the instrument. The intermediate part of the annulus is thin relatively to the outer and inner parts A', A . The parts B, C are not bonded to the annulus. The part A<4> of the under face of the annulus may in the unflexed condition lie in a plane at right angles to the axis of the mounting.
