Abstract

515,818. Safety harness for children. NEWMAN, E. A. H. July 2, 1938, No. 19693. [Class 141] A safety strap device for children for use in a motor car fitted either with a lift-out seat or with a separate-back front seat, consists of one or more anchorage straps to girth the lift-out seat or the back of the front seat, a harness to fit over the child, and two tether straps connecting the harness to the anchorage strap or straps. In the form shown, the harness comprises adjustable body and shoulder straps 9, 10, 11, the shoulder straps having rear continuations 16 which each form part of a tether strap, and are connected to the remaining parts 5 of the tether straps by cooperating spring hooks and eyes. Anchorage straps 1, 2, girth the lift-out seat, and are fitted with additional buckles 4, for the straps 5. Additional adjustable straps 17, 18, are secured to the body strap 9, and are looped under the anchorage straps. In a modification, a single anchorage strap fitted with a pair of leather straps girths the back portion of a separate-back front seat.
