Abstract

515,412. Sulphonamide compounds. RICHTER GEDEON VEGYESZETI GYAR R.T. Feb. 28, 1938, Nos. 6329 and 6330. Void. Convention dates, April 29, 1937, and Jan. 31, 1938. [Class 2(iii)] Aminobenzene-sulphonamides are acylated with aliphatic or aromatic dicarboxylic acids to give products of the formula in which R represents an aliphatic or aromatic residue and X stands for hydrogen, alkyl or aryl, which two latter groups may be split off by saponification. The acid products, which may be converted into salts, possess therapeutic properties. According to the examples (1) p-aminobenzene-sulphonamide is melted with adipic acid to give p-adipinylaminobenzene sulphonamide ; (2) p-aminobenzene-sulphonamide is heated with succinic acid in aqueous solution and produces p-succinylaminobenzenesulphonamide; the product may be converted into its salts with quinine and with phenolazoalpha:alpha - diaminopyridine ; (3) p-aminobenzene - sulphonamide is dissolved in aqueous sodium carbonate and treated with malonic acid monochloride, Whereby p - malonylaminobenzene - sulphonamide is formed ; (4) p-aminobenzenesulphonamide is heated in aqueous solution with phthalic anhydride 'to give p-phthalylaminobenzene-sulphonamide ; (5) p-aminobenzenesulphonamide is boiled with diethyl oxalate and the resulting mono-ester saponified with caustic soda solution to yield p-oxalylaminobenzene-sulphonamide.
