[Class 141] A turned-down collar comprises outer and inner single piece face plies, and sections in the top and band portions of the collar which are united to one or both of the face plies and hold the plies in fixed relationship while having their adjacent edges spaced along the fold line of the collar, and means co-operating with the sections to raise the outer face ply along the fold line to form a visible fold line throughout the length of the collar. In the form shown, the collar comprises outer and inner face plies 1, 2, and intermediate sections 4, 6 of thermoplastic material in the top and band portions A, B, respectively which are adhesively united to the ply 2 or to both plies 1, 2, the adjacent edges of the sections 4, 6, being spaced from one another, and having a strip 8 of textile material which may be cut on the bias stitched thereto at 9, 10, to form a fold line. In a modification, the strip is stitched or adhered to the inner face ply. In a further modification, the strip is secured to the inner face ply by lines of stitches, and the strip and inner face ply are secured to the intermediate sections by further lines of stitches. The collar may be permanently sewed to a shirt or detachable therefrom.
