[Class 39 (iii)] To facilitate sliding of a self baking electrode within a metallic mould 3, contacts 2 having radial ribs 1 are arranged between the mould and the electrode mass and serve to transmit electric current from the mould to the electrode mass. The electrode mass moves with the sliding contacts which are connected to the hoisting apparatus. The movement of the electrode is regulated according to the voltage.
