[Class 56] Relates to the method of making glass fibres in which the molten glass is drawn from apertures in a crucible or spinneret 2, Fig. 2. According to the invention, the cone 1 of glass which forms at each aperture is heated internally by an element which projects into the cone. The element may consist of an electricallyheated conductor 4, and it may be arranged to heat the upper part of the cone or to extend to the tip. It may also be arranged in an aperture in a receptacle which receives molten glass from a melting-pot. The element may be arranged below the aperture, as shown in Fig. 7, and to project laterally into the cone of glass. Specification 452,810 is referred to.
