[Class 34 (ii)] In a laundry drying machine comprising a perforated rotary drum 5 for containing the clothes housed in a drum chamber 2 above an air heating chamber 3 from which heated air is admitted axially into the drum through an opening 19, the fan 14 for circulating the air is located inside the drum chamber to facilitate the re-circulation of part of the heated air which has passed through the drum. The remaining moist air enters the atmosphere through an outlet 8. The fan is arranged within the opening 19, which are both of the same diameter, and is mounted in a bearing 16 carried by the rear wall of the drum chamber. The fan drive also serves to drive the shafts 18 of rollers 9 on which the drum is mounted. The heating chamber 3 contains a heater 6, over which flows fresh air from a screened opening 13, and communicates with a rear duct 4 having angularly disposed side walls 7x converging from the base of the duct, which extends the full width of the heating chamber, to the fan opening. Part of the moist air may be re-heated before re-circulation through the drum by withdrawal through an opening 23 directly into the heating chamber, the opening 23 being provided with an adjustable closure 24. Curved screens 25, 26 are disposed below the outlet 8 and above the aperture 23, respectively, to trap lint &c. which is removed on accumulation by a brush 27 secured to the periphery of the drum. The brush is carried by an adjustable leaf spring. Lifting blades within the drum effect movement of the clothes across the current of heated air.
