[Class 86] [Also in Group V] Apparatus for frothing rubber comprises a cylindrical drum and a perforated reciprocating plunger 11. Rubber in the form of a viscous liquid or plastic dough is placed in the drum, filling about one third of the space, an inert gas, e.g., nitrogen, is introduced under pressure, e.g., 100 lbs. per sq. in., and the plunger 11 is reciprocated by suitable mechanism, not shown, for about two hours until a homogeneous froth is produced.
