[Class 78 (i)] [Also in Groups I and XXIV] A machine for conveying, dewatering &c. sand, gravel &c. comprises buckets, flights, scrapers &c. mounted on one or more flat flexible belts by a transverse clamping bar attached to each bucket &c. by bolts which do not pass through the material of the belting. In Figs. 1 and 2, flights 10 are secured to spaced reinforced rubber belts 11 by angle T, or other irons 12 and bars 14 connected by bolts 13 adjacent the edges of the belts; the bars 14 are extended to engage driving sprockets 17, and the extended ends and the sprocket teeth may have renewable wearing tips as 15. Some bars 14, e.g., alternate bars, may be secured to plain bars 16 without flights. Slots 20 adjacent the sprocket teeth prevent accumulation of sand. One or more driving sprockets may be provided between the belts 11. In Figs. 3 and 4, the belts 31 engage the flanges of the sprockets 37 which have renewable teeth 39 and are wider than the belts; clamping bars 34 engage grooves in the flanges. Cleats 41 retain the clamping bars laterally. A single belt may be used and approximate in width to the flights &c. The belts may have mouldings &c. to facilitate positioning the flights, clamping bars &c. and may be protected by covering material &c.
