[Class 36] To prevent electrical discharges occurring in the spaces 9 between the innermost layer of insulation 7 and the overlapping edge portion 6 of the metallized paper tape 5 which is helically wrapped upon the conductor of a high-tension cable with the metallized surface 4 in contact with the conductor, the metallized surface of the tape terminates at a short distance, e.g. 0.15 to 0.3 mm., from the edge of the overlapping portion 6 so that the edge of the metallized surface is isolated from the spaces 9.
