Abstract

508,744. Grinding-machines. LINDNER, H. July 4, 1938, No. 19780. Convention date, July 3, 1937. [Class 60] [Also in Groups XXII and XXXVII] In a machine for grinding gear teeth in which the workpiece is shaped by intermeshing engagement with a tool, electric means is provided for synchronising the speeds of rotation of the tool and the workpiece. A gear blank 3 to be profiled by a grinding wheel 1 is rotated by an electromotor A<2> through a change-speed gear T. The shaft 2 of the electromotor A<2> carries a synchronising motor S<2>. The grinding wheel 1 is carried by a shaft 2 driven by an electromotor A<1> and carrying a synchronising motor S<1>. The electromotors A<1>, A<2> are connected by wires a, b, c to power leads R, S, T and the synchronising motors are coupled to the leads R, S, T by wires f, e, d in such a manner that each rotor rotates oppositely to its field. The slip rings of the motors A<1>, A<2> are connected by wires i, g, h, and the slip rings of the motors S<1>, S<2> by wires k, l, m. A flywheel 8 may be mounted on the shaft 2. The driving motor A<2> may be omitted and the motor S<2> used for rotating the workpiece. In a modification the shafts may be synchronised by using synchronous motors as driving motors or by using asynchronous driving motors with rotors connected in parallel.
