Abstract

507,752. Securing electric-lamp caps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., MERCER, T., and WOODWARD, W. J. A. Oct. 18, 1937, No. 28330. [Class 39 (ii)] A cap adapted to be secured to an electric lamp or like device without the aid of cement comprises two sets of projecting portions which are adapted to co-operate with corresponding parts on the lamp bulb, one set of projections preventing rotation of the cap on the bulb whilst the other set prevent removal by longitudinal movement of the cap. Rotation may be prevented by making the cap of non-circular, e.g. polygonal cross-section. In the example the cap, Fig. 1, is provided with four inwardly directed longitudinal flutes 6 to engage within longitudinal depressions 3, Fig. 3, moulded in the bulb neck 1, and has pairs of slits formed circumferentially in the portions between the flutes 6 to enable the metal to be deformed inwardly to form feathers 7 which engage within a circumferential groove 4 or spaced depressions in the bulb neck. The groove 4 may be of tapering cross section.
