Abstract

506,446. Carburetters. ELLOR, J. E. Feb. 17, 1938, No. 5001. [Class 7 (iii)] To permit cold air from the atmosphere and/or hot air from the interior of the fuselage 6 of an aircraft engine to be supplied to an intake pipe 5, the fuselage is provided with an orifice 8 containing a shutter 9, provided with side pieces 11, which can be opened outwards by hand or by a thermally sensitive device. A flame trap 13 and/or an air cleaner may be mounted in the oritice 8 or disposed in the pipe 5 or an air cleaner may be arranged in an air intake at the front of the fuselage.
