Abstract

505,801. Making foam. FREUDENBERG, W:, FREUDENBERG, H., FREUDENBERG, 0., and FREUDENBERG, R. April 14, 1938, Nos. 11599 and 11MO. Convention dates, April 21 1937 and Aug. 21,1937. Drawings to Specification. [Class 47 (ii)] [Also in Groups VIII and IV] Foams are prepared by beating solutions, emulsions, or suspensions of rubber, including latex and reclaim, nitrocellulose, synthetic resins such as polymers or mixed polymers of unsaturated organic compounds such as vinyl compounds, styrol, acrylic acid or its derivatives, drying or semi-drying oils, bitumen, proteins such as glue or gelatine, gum tragacanth, or waterglass. Foaming may be facilitated by adding saponins, glucosides, proteins, or alkali lactates. Vulcanizing ingredients, softeners, zinc or aluminium salts, kaolin, bentonite, and methyl cellulose may also be added. Specified compositions contain (a) an aqueous emulsion of polymethyl acrylate, gelatine, lauryl alcohol, tricresyl phosphate, saponin, oleic acid, and casein, and (b) latex, vulcanizing ingredients, wetting agent, saponin, and an anti-coagulant.
