504,903. Tennis &c. rackets. SOC. POUR LA REALISATION ET L'EXPLOITATION D'INVENTIONS MECHANIQUES REIM. Nov. 3, 1938, No. 31887. Convention date, Nov. 5, 1937. [Class 132 (ii)] In a racket for tennis and like games, of the type in which the string network is supported by two opposed flexible members 12 slidable along the racket frame to adjust the tension of the network, 'each flexible member comprises a rigid circularly curved shoe 15 adjacent the throat piece 2, sliding on a corresponding cylindrical surface of the frame. The frame is grooved to receive bent-over string-supporting lugs 14 formed on the strips 12. The edges of the holes in the frame through which the strings pass may be reinforced by an overlaid perforated strip having, for example, its fibres disposed transversely. The racket is apertured at the throat 9 to receive a screwed bar 19 for pulling the shoes 15 together. In a modification, the strips 12 consist of chains, and pulleys may be used instead of the lugs 14.
