Abstract

504,147. Vacuum. - jacketed vessels. MITTELBACH, R. Feb. 16, 1938, No. 4832. [Class 64 (ii)] A double-walled vacuum insulating container 1, Fig. 2, having an outer covering 4 of xylolite (Sorel cement and sawdust) which by means of casting, pressing or injection moulding is indissolubly connected to the outer glass bulb, is provided with a screwthread which is formed during the casting of the cover. This thread may be strengthened by a metal insertion 8, Fig. 4. The vacuum sealing nipple 3 has a metal cap to protect it during the casting, pressing or moulding process. The surface of xylolite may have a cold glazing applied to it after moulding. The flask may also have a protective collar 9 at the base and may be provided with a handle 10.
