Abstract
503,621. Refrigerators. LIGHTFOOT REFRIGERATION CO., Ltd., ENGEL, M., and GARROD, C. E. Oct. 13, 1937, No. 27837. [Class 29] A cabinet for making and storing ice-cream &c. is formed with a brine compartment 3 into which depends a cream freezer 1, and a storage compartment 4 for the frozen cream, the cabinet being cooled by a compression refrigerating machine the refrigerant from which is circulated first through one or two pipe coils 12 around the storage compartment, then through a coil 13 in the brine, and finally through a coil 14 around the storage compartment back to the machine. The refrigerant flow to the coils is controlled by an automatic expansion valve 11, and the temperature of the storage compartment is controlled by a thermostat 15 'which controls the compressor motor switch. In a modification, a second storage chamber is providedhaving a cooling coil 12a, Fig. 2, connected through a three-way valve 16 either directly with the coil 13 or indirectly therewith through the coil 14a. The valve may be of the magnetic type and controlled by a thermostat 17 subject to the temperature in the second storage chamber.
