503,347. Hydraulic control valves. VICKERS, Inc. Oct. 19, 1937, No. 28394. Convention date, Nov. 30, 1936. [Class 135] An electrically-actuated hydraulic control valve comprises a piston valve element 14, 15 working in a, ported housing 1 and having solenoid plungers 12, 13 on either side working in guide sleeves 6, 6 surrounded by solenoids 7, 7a for actuating the valve in either direction. The plungers 12, 13 are provided with longitudinal slots 16 to permit the flow of the pressure fluid from inlets 3, 3 to the chambers 25, 26 at the ends of the plungers or vice versa on movement of the valve element. This flow of the pressure fluid serves to cool the solenoids and also to provide a dashpot effect to cushion the movements of the valve. The valve is positioned centrally when neither-coil is energized by springs 17, 18 on guide rods 20, 19 respectively.
