Abstract
501,975. Cigarette-making appliances. EVANS CONCINNUM -Ltd., and JEZZI, P. G. L. Sept. 7, 1937, No. 24441. [Class 130] In an appliance in which tobacco is laid in the two hinged halves 1, 4 of a tube,. on the outside of which a cigarette paper or paper tube is arranged before an element 6 is withdrawn from between the tobacco and the paper, the hinge 2 has the axis of its pivot pin 3 disposed on the periphery of the parts 1, 4, so that there is substantially no gap between the parts when opened to receive the tobacco. As shown, the part 4 is closed by a flat wall 9 and is slidably engaged by a reduced end 6a of the element 6, which is of similar cross-section to the part 4. One edge 7a of the end 6a is tapered and the other edge 7b is straight, to secure an efficient push fit in the part 4. The outer end 11 of the element 6 is gripped between finger and thumb for removal, and a lug 12 withdraws the cigarette with the element 6. In a modification, the element 6 is shaped to allow its removal rearwards through the part 4, and may be slightly tapered to prevent complete removal.
