[Class 37] [Also in Group XL] Two forms of mount. ing for the coil of a phase difference indicator are indicated in Figs. 2 and 3. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 2, the indicating coil I is connected by flexible leads K.to the coil N. When the indicator tends to move into a new position, the coil I is retarded only by the pull of the flexible leads K and moves at once into its new position. The coil N follows when the force exerted is sufficient to overcome the frictional drag of the brushes g, h on the rings e, f. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 3, the coils I and N are mounted with their windings in opposition so that the e.m.f's induced in them by the rotating field cancel. When the coils move out of the posi-. tion of equilibrium however they tend to move in opposite directions but the contact bar s, t carried by the coil N brings in one or other of the additional windings P, R, which forces the coil N to follow the coil I into a new position of equilibrium.
