501,236. Two-part couplings. BRONZAVIA SOC. ANON. Aug. 18, 1937, No. 12780/38. Convention date, Nov. 6, 1936. Divided out of 501,203. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Groups VI and XXVIII] A connecting device for respiratory apparatus comprises a casing having a flexible connection 23 to a gas-mask, connection 33 to a portable oxygen container and a connection 10 to a fixed supply of oxygen which is effected by a plug-in coupling member 12, carrying a spigot 14, which is held against a plug block 15 rigid with the casing by a quick-release locking means which is shown as clips 16 and 17. The plug block 15 also carries sockets 22 co-operating with pins 13 on the coupling member 12 so that telephone and other electrical connection can be readily effected. Preferably resilient means are provided to eject the member 12 when the locking device is released, e.g. springs 35 arranged on the stems of plugs 13. The clip 17 is rigid and in the form of a cranked lever pivoted at 18 and held in position by spring 19. It is detached by movement of the long end of the cranked lever, which may be effected by a cam mounted on the spindle 6 of a valve which also controls the supply of gas from either of the two sources.
