501,198. Water-tube steam boilers; steam superheaters. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. July 20, 1937, No. 20078. Convention date, Nov. 13, 1936. [Classes 123 (ii) and 123 (iii)] In a water-tube boiler, the hot gases after passing over a superheater section 10, Fig. 1, and before passing over an economizer section 30 flow through parallel passes containing respectively a second superheater section 20 and a second economizer section 40, the gas flow through the passes being proportioned by dampers 50, 52. The steam flows first through the section 20 then through the section 10, and the water flows first through the section 30 then through the section 40. A radiant heat superheater section may be used with or in place of the section 10. The primary superheater section 84, Fig. 4, is arranged across the inlets of the parallel gas passes 86, 88 containing respectively a secondary superheater section 92 and the primary economizer section, and the secondary economizer section 94 is arranged across the ontlets of the passes.
