Abstract

501,172. Plywood. MARKLE, F., and FRANKE, F. W. Jan. 18, 1938, No. 1622. Convention date, Jan. 18, 1937. [Class 145 (ii)] Corrugated plywood is made from a freshly stripped wood web subjected to a corrugating process and simultaneously cemented to a web of paper, textile material, metal foil or synthetic substance. The wood web a and paper webs b may be led between corrugating rollers d, e, f which may be heated, devices c for applying a cementing agent being provided. The corrugated plywood is driven by the corrugated conveyer bands h, and the tips are coated with adhesive by which it is secured to a flat covering or top veneer i, the two being pressed together and dried by a heated table k. A stack of alternately corrugated and flat sheets may be built up, and, may be sawn up in directions perpendicular to the corrugations, each said assembly being placed between flat sheets as shown in Fig. 4. The stack may be provided with a thick wood frame before it is sawn up.
