501,104. Cords. DRELA FLECHTMATERIAL GES. April 13, 1938, Nos. 11355 and 11356. Convention dates, May 10, 1937 and Oct. 2, 1937. [Class 109]. To provide a twisted strand from which wickerwork articles, coal cauldrons, shell-baskets, toys, hats, footwear, &c. can be made, a band h of e.g. sheet cellulose material is wound tightly around a fibrous core, a of e.g. wood shavings, preferably in the same direction as the lay of the fibres. The band may be reinforced by thread-like strips k. Another band i or a thread, may be wound on in the opposite direction to the lay of the fibres in the core. A thread, band or twisted wire cord may be imbedded in the fibres. The finished strand may be varnished or treated with adhesives, oils, &c.
