[Class 78 (i)] [Also in Groups VIII and XVI] In a feeding device for an ironing-machine wherein the goods are fed between an upper set of endless bands 34 and a lower set 16 which pass round guide pulleys 20, 22, the pulley 20 being positively driven from the driving- gear of the ironer and both pulleys being carried by a frame 15 adjustably secured to the ironer frame 11 in such a way that a nose 18a or 18b may engage a bracket 69 on the ironer frame to give a low or high feed respectively, the frame 43 carrying the upper set is supported above the lower frame by means. permitting vertical adjustment. A guide 37 extending across the feed bands and supported by posts 36 secured to the lower frame is provided with brackets 39 pivoted thereto and provided with a screw 40 bearing on a portion 38a for varying its inclination. The other ends of the brackets are provided with hooks 41 which engage pins 42 on the bars 43 of the frame of the upper bands. The upper bands are driven by frictional contact with the lower bands and pass over pulleys 51, 46, the position of the pulley 46 being adjusted by a screw 48 to vary the tension. The upper runs of the bands are supported by bars 52 having guide pins 52a. Plates 54, 55, 56 are linked by members 57, 59, 62, 63 so as to have limited vertical movement, independent of one another but have no substantial horizontal movement. Stripping fingers 68 coact with resiliently, mounted fingers 64 on the lower frame, the adjustment of the upper frame also adjusting the clearance between the two sets of fingers.
