Abstract

500,053. Coating sheet material. BRAITHWAITE & SON (DRYSALTERS), Ltd., I., WILSON, H. C., and SMITH, A. L. Aug. 7, 1937, No. 21761. [Class 95] Liquid, e.g. hydrophobic such as a cellulose ester solution, is applied locally to a sheet of material by manual depression of a member associated with a striker immersed in the liquid. As shown, a comb-like striker 3a is attached to a curved lever 3 carried by a spindle and pivotally mounted in a box 2 housing a box 1 containing the liquid. The lever terminates in a stud 6 adapted to be depressed by an adjustable screw 11 carried by a hinged lid 9. A cover 7, having a depending wall 8 embracing the box 2, supports the lid 9. Apertures 13, 14 are provided the cover and lid through which the striker engages the fabric. Local application of the liquid is effected by pressing the sheet on the upper surface of the lid 9.
