Abstract
499,983. Shelving. SAGE & CO., Ltd., F., and SAMPSON, H. D. Sept. 28, 1937, No. 26256. [Class 52 (i)] The uprights 1, Figs. 2 and 3, and cross-bars 2 of a metal frame structure for shelving and like purposes are provided with corrugated interengaging parts 3, 7, and with means for clamping these parts together, e.g. bolts 6 and nuts 9, so that the cross-bars 2 act as struts between the uprights and as bearers for the shelving and can be adjusted in height. The uprights may be of T-section and have corrugated strips 3 of metal secured to them, and the cross-bars may be wholly or in part composed of corrugated thin metal. The bolts 6 adapted to pass through holes in the cross-bars 2 may be secured to plates 4 which have pins 5 adapted to enter the spaces between the corrugations of the strip 3 and the upright. In a modification, the screws are carried by a rod. The spaces between the uprights 1 at the rear and sides may be filled in with sheet metal to form a cabinet or the like, and the uprights may have corrugations on both sides of the web to take cross-bars on each side to form intermediate supports for shelving. Sections other than T-sections may be used.
