Abstract

499,914. Air - filters. AMERICAN AIR FILTER CO., Inc. Dec. 8, 1937, No. 33979. [Class 8 (ii)] A festooned filter is held in position by interlocking frames M, W. The frame M comprises end plates 1 and side plates formed with fingers 3, two plates with intercalated fingers being provided on each side, the metal cut away to form the fingers being bent to form flanges thereon. Bars 6 joining the apices of opposed fingers act as supports to the filtering medium, which is held at the edges. between the flanges and corresponding flanges of fingers 13 of frame W. A woven wire screen support 16 for the filter is retained within the flanges of teeth 13 at the sides, and its ends are secured to the walls 11. Triangular frames 17 press the screen against the flanges and are welded to a base frame 15. Catches 19 lock the frames M, W together. The edges 20a, Fig. 6 of the filter medium may protrude and may form seals with an outer box enclosing the filter, which may be held in place by a, latch 26, Fig. 1, engaging a slot in the box.
