Abstract
499,848. Cathode-ray tubes. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO:, Ltd. April 23, 1937, No. 11695. Void. Convention date, April 25, 1936. [Class 39 (i)] Relates to systems for the electron-optical reproduction of a visible image in which an electron beam is reflected by a structure referred to as an electron mirror such as is described in Specifications 458,015 and 460,288. In Fig. 1, an electron beam 5 passing through a lens 6 is reflected from an electron mirror consisting of a plate 2 and diaphragm 3 provided with a bias voltage. A homogeneous magnetic field 4 is provided to cause the incident and reflected beams to take the path shown, making an angle 0 with each other, and it is stated this arrangement "increases the efficiency of the electron yield as the surface of the mirror can be more fully utilized without the picture being distorted." In Fig. 2, electron rays from an object 8 pass through a lens 9 and, after reflection from the mirror 10, through a further lens 11 on to a receiver 12. It is stated that " all electrons issuing from the object 8 are employed for reproduction no matter whether this is a surface itself emitting electrons, a foil that is having the rays pass through it or a surface that is reflecting electrons, in which case the primary and secondary electrons can have different speeds throughout."
