Abstract

499,436. Grinding. MILLER, F. P. Jan. 14, 1938, No. 1317. [Class 60] [Also in Group XXII] A milling-cutter or like tool of the inserted - blade type has blades 10 with parallel serrations 14 separated by grooves which are wide enough to receive two or more serrations 12 of the opposed wall of the cutter body 5, thereby facilitating the making of the blades from hard material. The body serrations 12 are formed in the rear faces of parallel-sided slots 7. The blades are made from hard metals, such as that sold commercially under the Registered Trade Mark "Stellite," and the serrations on the blade are formed as shown in Fig. 7 by a wide grinding wheel 27. The serrations 14 are at double the normal distance apart so that they engage every alternate groove in the slot. British Specification 499,434 and U.S.A. Specification 1,951,101 are referred to.
