497,556. Stays for hinged articles. PERSSON, E. S. May 23, 1938, No. 15323. Convention date, May 23, 1937. [Class 65 (i)] A telescopic stay comprises an outer tube 4 provided with one or more locking openings 9 adapted to be engaged by a pivoted catch 8 on the inner end of the inner telescopic member 6. The tube 4 has also two longer openings 10, 11, through which the catch may partly drop, so that continued inward movement of 6 turns the catch through 180‹ and turns its locking lug 14 away from the openings 9. The member 6 has a projection adapted to engage a stop on 4 to prevent complete withdrawal.
