Abstract

497,554. Sparking-plugs. GABLER, J May 20, 1938, No. 15015. [Class 7 (iv)] The loose inner part 2 of the central electrode is secured by a nut 3 in electrical contact with a thin-walled resilient metal tube 8 cemented in the outer bore of the insulator and having a rounded closed end. Contact may be ensured by a prong 5 upstanding from the extension of the nut 3, or by threading of the tube 8 within the electrode or the nut. Current is transmitted from the lead 14 by a prod-contact 10 having extensive slots 12 to permit air circulation. The insulator 1 is of sintered alumina, the outer insulator 16 of steatite, and mica 17 lines the metallic screen 18 which prevents high - frequency emission.
