Abstract

496,493. Stopping and starting arrangements for rotary duplicators. FORD, F. R. May 31, 1937, No. 15010. [Class 100 (ii)] The drive shaft 22, Fig. 7, of a rotary duplicating-machine employing, e.g. stencils, mirrorscript originals, or metal foil printing-sheets is rotated from a power driven shaft 18 through a clutch 23, 25, a member, such as a lever 46, Fig. 3, for actuating a clutch withdrawal device as well as a switch controlling a motor 21, Fig. 2, forming the power-unit being movable by the operator so as to start the machine and being automatically returned to stop-andswitch-off position at the end of one revolution. The motor is vertically arranged and drives the shaft 18 through a worm-gear 15, 17. The clutch member 25 is slidably mounted on the shaft 22 and is coupled to a member 24 fixed thereto and the member 23 is fixed to the shaft 18 and has ratchet teeth 29 for engagement with teeth 28a on the member 25. The lever'46 is rocked about a pivot 43 by depressing a hand-lever 35, whereupon a stop on the lever engages and rocks a centrallypivoted lever 51 carrying a pin 32 normally engaging a peripheral groove 31 in the member 25 so as to disconnect the clutch, and a pin 49 on the lever closes contact arms 48 to switch on the motor. A catch 72 holds the lever 46 until at or near the end of a revolution when a cam 57 on the member 24 releases the catch.
