496,492. Displaying ; kinematograph apparatus. BLACKISTON, H. E., STEWARD, A. W., and PARSEY, E. J. May 29, 1937, No. 14971. [Class 3 (i)] [Also in Group XX] Display panels 1,which may differ only slightly from one another to give a kinematographic effect, are viewed in succession by a relatively moving observer. The panels are illuminated a strip at a time, the strip sweeping across the panel so that this is seen as a whole by persistence of vision. The strip beam of light may be produced by a source of light 5 carried by a vehicle 6 on which the observer rides and acting in conjunction with slits 4 in a stationary inclined opaque screen 3. The lamps 5 may be located above or below, or both above and below, the level of the observer's eyes. The width and length of each slit 4 may be adjustable, and the slits may be replaced by curved reflectors. The lamps 5 may be elongated parallel to the slits.
