Abstract

Non-fibrous cellulosic materials or cellulose derivatives, e.g cellulose acetate are impregnated with an essential oil and "diacetone" (i.e. acetylacetone or diacetone alcohol) with or without a plasticizer, e.g. diethyl phthalate, the diacetone being employed to prevent the formation of a bloom on the surface of the completed article. The product may be formed into sheets, films &c. and may be shaped, e.g. by pouring a solution of the material on to a matrix plate to produce an article of desired shape such as a leaf.ALSO:Non-fibrous cellulosic materials or cellulose derivatives, e.g cellulose acetate are impregnated with an essential oil and "diacetone" (i.e. acetyl-acetone or diacetone alcohol) with or without a plasticizer, e.g. diethyl phthalate, the diacetone being employed for the purpose of preventing the formation of a bloom on the surface of the completed article. The product may be formed into sheets, films, &c. and may be shaped, e.g. by pouring a solution of the cellulosic material and the other ingredients on to a matrix plate to produce an article of desired shape such as a leaf.
