Abstract

Alkanolamine salts of mandelic acid are prepared by interaction of the compounds, preferably in a solvent using equimolecular proportions. Amines mentioned are mono-and di-ethanolamines and mono- and tri-isopropanolamines. The salts are useful for urinary antisepsis, being usually employed in conjunction with an acidifying agent such as ammonium chloride or nitrate in the proportions by weight of 1 part of acidifying agent and 2 to 5 parts of the salt.ALSO:Salts of mandelic acid with alkanolamines, e.g. mono- and di-ethanolamines and mono-and tri-isopropanolamines, are useful for urinary antisepsis, being usually employed in conjunction with an acidifying-agent such as ammonium chloride or nitrate in the proportions by weight of 1 part of acidifying-agent and 2 to 5 parts of the salt. The remedies may be administered as enteric-coated tablets.
