Abstract

495,037. Attachments for photographic and kinematographic cameras. KODAK, Ltd. (Eastman Kodak Co.) May 5, 1937, No. 12826. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (i)] A member adapted to replace the normal cover or door of a camera has built therein a photo-electric exposure meter and, if desired, a range-finder and view-finder. The form shown replaces the normal detachable side wall of a kinematograph camera. The view-finder comprises lenses 50, 51 and 52, the latter being slidable by means of the knob 64 to alter the field of view to correspond to objectives of different focal lengths. The lens 50 is pivoted at 66, and when very short focus objectives are in use it is swung upwards and the lenses 51 and 52 alone constitute the view-finder. The direct rays of the range-finder pass through lenses 10 and 14 to the eyepiece 15. The indirect rays pass through lenses 17 and 18 and are reflected into the eyepiece by mirrors 19 and 20, the latter covering only half the field of view. To bring the images into coincidence, the lens 18 is movable vertically by a bell-crank 23 coupled to a second bell-crank 30 operated by a finger piece 32 in an arcuate slot 33. The photo-electric cell 70 is coupled to a meter indicated at 74. The pointer 75 may be viewed through the aperture 100 in the side wall, Fig. 8, or by mirrors 101, 102 in the eyepiece of the view-finder. The diaphragm setting ring 95 operates, by a cam surface 94, a rod 93 coupled to a bar 86 on links 80, 81. The bar 86 carries an index which is brought into coincidence with the pointer of the meter. Tapped resistances operated by levers 106, 113 are provided to take account of different film speeds and to allow for different frame frequencies.
