Abstract

494,851. Resilient mountings. LISTER & CO., Ltd., R. A., and WILKINSON, B. July 9, 1937, No. 19116. [Class 108 (iii)] A rubber mounting for stationary or car engines &c. comprises a two-part casing surrounding a rubber block to limit the expansion of the rubber under the action of oil or like solvent and spaced apart so that deformation of the rubber under load or by vibration can take place in every direction. As shown, a lug 11 of an engine casing is bored to receive a bolt 14 and a bush 13 of vulcanized indiarubber. The bolt passes through upper and lower cushions 25, 15 of material similar to that of the bush 13 which may be of the kind sold under the Registered Trade Mark " Sinatex." The cushion 15 is enclosed in upper and lower metal cup members 18, 19 which telescope into one another and limit the radial expansion of the cushion when it swells due to contact with oil. Perforations 24 in the rubber allow the rubber to expand inwardly on compression. Oil sealing washers 20, 22 above and below the cups prevent the admission of oil to the rubber. The bolt 14 compresses both cushions to near the elastic limit of the rubber. The bolt head or washer 23 may rest on a concrete foundation 28 or the mountings may be interposed between a chassis and the engine. Specifications 25431/06, [Class 108], 232,015, [Class 70], and 437,928, [Group V], are referred to,
