Abstract

494,565. Filters. DENHOLM, A. June 10, 1938, No. 17314. [Class 46] A filtering device comprises one or more hollow filters adapted to be supported normally in submerged condition in a tank containing the liquid to be filtered, the filters being mounted for pivotal movement about a collector pipe, such movement serving to operate means for preventing unfiltered liquid from entering the collector when a filter is moved into a position to be cleaned or replaced. In the construction shown, a tank 1 is provided with tubular filters 2 of wire, cloth or perforated metal, each of which is mounted on a tube 3 embraced by a limb 4 of a T-shaped sleeve 5 embracing a collector pipe 6. The pipe 6 is provided with openings 7 for the passage of liquid from the filters. The limbs 4 of the sleeves 5 are provided with handles 12 whereby the filters may be swung clear of the liquid in the tank, for cleaning or replacement.
