[Class 61 (iii)] In adjustable hand-grip pipe tongs or wrenches of the kind comprising a pair of pivoted jaw levers having the pivot secured in one lever adjustable along an aperture in the other lever the pivot 8 carried by the jaw lever 3 is of D section and the aperture 9 in the jaw 1 is formed of a number of spaced holes 9a joined by a slot of a width equal to the width of the pivot 8 at right-angles to its chordal face, the slot having one wall tangential to the holes and the other wall intersecting them. One jaw 4 has a toothed face 4a and the other jaw 7 a rectilinear face 7a with or without a few teeth at 7b.
