Abstract
492,862. Woven fabrics. LIEBOWITZ, B. Feb. 2, 1938, No. 3261. Convention date, Aug. 31, 1937. [Class 142 (iv)] An insertion material for chemically stiffened multiply articles of wearing-apparel, such as collars and cuffs, has woven in threads 4 of adhesive capacity, which in the zones intended to form folding lines in the finished collars, extend wholly or mainly on one side only of the material. Thus cotton wefts 6, cotton warp threads 5 and cellulose acetate warp threads 4 may be interwoven in a jacquard loom, the threads 4 floating over nine wefts in curved zones extending across the fabric, which is cut into collar shaped pieces 3, Fig. 1, having curved folding lines 2. The fabric may have folding lines 8 extending warp-wise as shown in Fig. 6. The folding lines may comprise stepped zones, the fabric being then woven in an ordinary loom. The insertion may comprise the middle of three fabric layers, which are sewn together and are subsequently chemically stiffened, for example by the action of solvents, heat and pressure.
