Abstract
Luminous compositions contain alkaline earth metal compounds together with lithium compounds, preferably the carbonate, sulphate, fluoride and/or phosphate of lithium. Specified alkaline earth metal compounds are strontium hydroxide either alone or in combination with the oxide and/or carbonate of calcium and/or barium. Other specified additions are sodium carbonate, sodium sulphate, potassium carbonate, potassium sulphate, magnesium carbonate, oxide, sulphate and phosphate, bismuth compounds such as the nitrate or subnitrate which may be in colloidal form, thorium sulphate and nitrate, thallium sulphate and nitrate, and rubidium sulphate, nitrate and carbonate.
