Abstract

492,334. Pipe joints. CHEW & CO., Ltd., J., and CHEW, S. March 15, 1937, No. 7484. [Class 99 (i)] In a joint between two pipes or between a pipe and a plate, header, &c., of the kind in which packing E is compressed in a gland by a helical spring G, the use of screw fittings is dispensed with. The gland ring H compressing the spring is held in position by a U-shaped spring clip J which lies in aligned grooves in the gland ring and the socket D. Alternatively the gland ring and socket have interengaging projections of the bayonet joint type. In another form the spring is held by a split ring M, Fig. 6, engaging a groove d<1> in the socket.
