[Class 40 (iii)] The effect of inherent resistance in a parallel tuned circuit L, C, is eliminated by a resistance R connected between earth and a tapping D on the inductance L. The operation of the circuit is shown with vector diagrams and the value for R evaluated for the general case when the inductance L is divided at D into portions L1 and L2. When L1=L2, R=L/4Cr where r is the inherent resistance of the inductance. If C is variable, its control may be ganged with that of R. The circuit is used for suppressing an undesired high-frequency signal.
