491,855. Vehicle doors. AUTO UNION AKT.-GES. March 9, 1937, No. 6958. Convention date, March 18, 1936. [Class 103 (ii)] A vehicle door, particularly for automobiles, having a thin, outwardly-arched wall 1 and marginal parts 3, 4, 5, 6, is pressed in one piece from artificial resin or like material containing laminated paper or fabric and at highly-stressed places is reinforced with layers or ribs 9 ... 14 of the same material which are formed integral with the other material by the pressing operation, if necessary with the addition of artificialresin binding-agents. The parts 3..6 may be integral with the body portion before the pressing operation or may be applied separately and united thereto during the pressing operation. As shown the edge 3 is reinforced at the hinge portions 7, 8 and the reinforcing- strips 9-11 and 12-14 extend respectively from the portions 7, 8 and join and reinforce the edges 4, 5, 6. The strips 9, 10, 11 have an extension on which one limb of a windowguiding frame 19 is screwed, the other limb being provided with a suitable reinforced support (not shown). The supporting-plate of the window-operating device 27 is secured at its lower edge to a strip 26 screwed on the frame 19 and is formed at its upper edge with projections 28, 29 clamped with the interposition of rubber buffers in grooves in an artificialresin strip 30 fixed to the door edge 5. To facilitate drainage of rain-water, cut-away parts 32 in the lower edge 6 are provided and a similar cut-away part in the side-edge 4 permits the passage of a lock-catch. The door lining (not shown) is screwed to edge reinforcements 23, 24, 25. To strengthen further the hinge edge 3, a metal rod 33 may be pressed into the edge and may be engaged by the hinge screws.
