Abstract

491,257. Street &c. lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and MAXTED, R. March 15, 1937, No. 7545. [Class 75 (iv)] In a street lighting fitting light from an elongated source 3 is reflected outwards at an angle of from 78 to 82‹ to the vertical from reflectors 1, at an angle of about 77‹ from the upper prisms of refractors 7, and at angles of from 16 to 72‹ from its lower curved prisms 11, while a fluted spreader glass 13 functions to provide uniformly continuous illumination in spite of opaque supporting rods 15. Prismatic panels 5 spread the light. The lower prisms of the refractor 7 give maximum illumination at an angle of about 65‹. Specification 462,056 is referred to.
