Abstract
490,181. Two-part couplings. CINCH MANUFACTURING CORPORATION. Oct. 20, 1937, No. 28579. Convention date, Oct. 31, 1936. [Class 38 (i)] The plug-and-socket members of a coupling are each housed in a metal shield 1, 20 which are in electrical connection when the coupling members are engaged. The socket member has its contacts 12 mounted between insulating plates 9, 10 between which and an outer insulating plate 7 there are clamped a metal plate 6 and ears 17 bent inwardly from the edge of the shield 1. In addition to apertures in the insulating plates for the passage of the plug contacts 24, apertures 15, 16 are provided to allow split blades 30 carried on feet 27 riveted to the shield 20 to come into contact with the metal plate 6. The plug contacts 24 are carried on an insulating plate 21 secured in the shield 20 upon a shoulder 23 by bending- in lugs 22. Cable inlet nipples 3, 25 are provided and the shield 1 may be lined with insulation.
